Hunger strike and demo against the isolation of Öcalan in Vienna

Protests against the aggravated isolation on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan, are growing.

Kurds and their friends are staging hunger strikes all around the world in solidarity with DTK Co-chair and HDP MP for Hakkari, Leyla Güven, who has been on hunger strike for 32 days demanding an end to the aggravated isolation imposed by the Turkish state on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

As part of worldwide protests, Kurds in the Austrian capital city Vienna have also started a solidarity hunger strike which is on the fourth day.

The hunger strike is taking place in a tent set up at Museumsquartier. 30 people are taking part in the hunger strike which will last 20 days.

A group from the activists partaking in the hunger strike action have unfurled a banner in front of the historical St. Stefan Church. The banner read: “Freedom for Öcalan and all political prisoners”.

A black wreath will be left in front of the Turkish Consulate in the city tomorrow as part of protests against the Turkish state’s isolation regime against Öcalan and genocidal war against the Kurdish people and their freedom struggle.
