HPG: 5 Turkish soldiers killed in Black Sea region

HPG announced that 5 Turkish soldiers were killed in an action targeting the a Turkish military unit participating in an operation in the Black Sea region.

The Press and Communications Center of People’s Defense Forces (HPG-BIM) released a statement about clashes and actions in the Black Sea region north of Turkey.

HPG stated that the Turkish army launched an air-supported operation in the area between Trabzon’s Tanya district and Gümüşhane’s Kürtün district on April 4.

According to the statement, guerrillas hit a Turkish military unit participating in the operation at 14:00 on April 5 as part of the Martyr Ozan and Martyr Roza Dersim Revolutionary Campaign they had launched in the region.

Guerrillas hit the Turkish unit at close range after approaching their position. In the face of effective strikes, soldiers tried to rescue themselves by jumping off the cliff. Bodies of 5 soldiers remained in the area, while dozens of soldiers got injured. The Turkish military operation in the area continues.

HPG reported continued Turkish aerial attacks against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in Southern Kurdistan. Accordingly, Turkish jets shelled Keşan area of Heftanin region at 10:00 on April 7, and foothills of Hill Şekif in Xakurke region at around 13:00 on April 8.
