Historic loss for Turkish Lira

The Turkish Lira continues to lose value. USD has risen to 5.1611 while Euro is pushing 6 Liras.

The collapse of the Turkish Lira can’t be stopped. The Lira has opened the week in another record low against the USD.

USD/TRY exchange rates have risen as high as 5.1611, which shows that the Lira has lost over 34% of its value against the USD since the beginning of this year.

The decline in the Turkish Lira has also pushed Euro to the 6 Lira limit. The Euro has broken a record with 5.9926.

Reuters wrote that investors are cautious for assets in TL currency.

International finance institution HSBC pointed out that Turkish companies have 6 billion dollars of foreign debt payments for September and a further 9 billion dollars for October. The total amount of debt that must be paid until the end of next year is 69.5 billion dollars.
