HDP’s Temelli rallies in Kocaeli with thousands of people

Temelli told people the HDP will overcome the threshold.

In a rally attended by thousands of people in Kocaeli, HDP co-chair and MP candidate Sezai Temelli reiterated that “we say no to war. No more children have to grow up without father or mother”.

Temelli added: “I brought you greetings from Cizre where yesterday we had a crowded and enthusiastic meeting. Just like it is here today: we are celebrating 24 June a week earlier”.

The HDP co-chair spoke about the killings in Suruç, where AKP members murdered people just for stating they would not vote for the AKP. “The President of this country and his Interior Minister are lying to people, trying to fool them. Suruç was a great provocation. The AKP members were harassing shopkeepers on day and 3 days later they went there again with gangsters”.

Call to parties and candidates

Reminding that the security cameras in hospital have been destroyed following instructions by the AKP members, Temelli added that “the public prosecutor did not order the arrest of the culprits but instead detained 19 of our friends”.

Temelli added that “the way to end these dirty games of power we must side with truth. We must stand together and we will get rid of these dirty powers”.

Once again, Temelli addressed directly “the leaders of all parties, the presidential candidates: don’t ignore Suruç. The HDP stands are still attacked. Our Kocaeli provincial co-chair is in hospital. Those who attacked him are going around freely. The duty of public officials is to serve the public. The work of officials who receive their salaries from people have one duty, and this is protect citizens. They don’t work for the AKP. Their duty is to serve the public. To catch the criminals”.

Erdogan’s lies

Temelli added that Erdogan is lying to people, accusing the HDP of being responsible for the attack in Suruç. He even said he has evidence that behind the Suruç incident is actually Ince's visit to Demirtaş.

“They have no ethical concerns. Everything is allowed in order to stay in power. They are corrupting all values of society. We must, all together, get rid of this tyranny”.

The HDP co-chair said that “much will change on 24 June. The AKP is trying to ensure the HDP will not overcome the threshold. And is doing so to prevent change in this country. We tell them that together with workers, women, youth, peoples of Turkey we will overcome the threshold”.

Temelli insisted on the need for a new democratic constitution. “The constitution will be pluralistic, will build freedom and a democratic republic in our common land. The HDP and the presidential candidate have put together a strong program and candidates. It is a transition program. Together we will implement this transition program in 18 to 30 months. We call for a parliamentary system strengthened by local democracy”.

Addressing the people of Kocaeli, Temelli said: “On 24 June, the program we presented will help solving the problems we are experiencing today. A labour city, Kocaeli, turned into a city where workers are actually the main victims. Workers’ rights are being violated, workers are stripped of their rights. Jobs are not safe, retirement is not guaranteed, pensions are being buried. We are going to revert all this”.

HDP co-chair and candidate Temelli ended his speech by saying that the State of Emergency will be lifted and the people who have been illegally dismissed from their workplace will be reinstated.
