HDP MPs stage sit-in in Van
In the city of Van, where the HDP-run metropolitan municipality was seized by the government alongside Amed and Van, HDP MPs staged sit-in.
HDP deputies, mayors and administrators have staged sit-in on the Cumhuriyet Avenue in central Van in protest at the AKP government’s seizure of metropolitan municipality on August 19.
The protest was joined by Bingöl MP Erdal Aydemir, Muş MP Şevin Coşkun, Van MP Muazzez Orhan, Van MP Murat Sarısaç, Group Deputy Chair Fatma Kurtulan, Hakkari MP Sait Dede, Van co-mayors Bedia Özgökçe Ertan and Mustafa Avcı, provincial branch co-chairs Ümit Dedse and Yadişen Karabulak.
Police prevented journalists from covering the protest which lasted some 40 minutes.
