HDP MP, Güven: Isolation of Öcalan must end

“It is clear that Turkey’ social problems can be solved with the end to the isolation imposed on Öcalan", said the jailed HDP MP Leyla Güven.

Jailed HDP Hakkari deputy and co-chair of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Leyla Güven spoke to Mesopotamia Agency (MA) about the need for an end to the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader.

Asked about the developments in the Middle East and Turkey, the jailed HDP deputy said: “Kurds living in the region are faced with heavy repression as the state doesn’t want them to achieve even the slightest of right”.

Talking about the isolation regime imposed on Öcalan, the HDP MP reminded that “unfortunately, this 19 years old violation of right has not entered the agenda of the institutions, or even if it did, no sufficient efforts were made to counter it. Clearly, this isolation is being applied to an entire society in the person of Öcalan”.

Talking about the release of CHP deputy Enis Berberoğlu, the HDP MP said that in fact it was a message the AKP gave the CHP. "This liberation is aimed at more than one goal and it will hang on the CHP like the sword of Damocles."

“Kurds are not expecting anything from the AKP”

"As far as my case, - said Guven – it is enough for me being a democratic politician coming from democratic politics".

Guven added: "We have no expectations from the AKP” and continued: “It is clear that Turkey’ social problems can be solved with the end to the isolation imposed on Öcalan. For this I call on people to support the demand of freedom for the Kurdish People’s Leader and urge everybody, beginning with the CHP, to stop playing the three monkey game”.
