HDP deputies meet Argentinean Secretariat of Human Rights

As part of their tour of Latin America, HDP deputies Gunay and Paylan met with the Secretariat of Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of the government of Argentina.

The Secretariat of Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of the government of Argentina, headed by Claudio Avruj, and the undersecretary of Human Rights Marisa Ivanoff had a meeting with HDP deputies Ebru Gunay and Garo Paylan who continue their tour of Latin America

The Secretary of Human Rights thanked the deputies for the visit, mentioned the Armenian genocide, and the importance of the recognition of the genocide by the three legislative, judicial and executive branches.

Garo Paylan mentioned that while recognition of the Armenian genocide was important, until Turkey recognizes the Armenian genocide, the Armenian people will not be able to heal that wound.

He also stressed the importance of halt Turkey for its attacks against Kurds.

"Turkey is important because it is a bridge between Muslims and Christians, - said Paylan - against radical Islam, so the democratization of the country is urgently needed to put an end to the number of political prisoners and the violation of human rights."

Claudio Avruj promised to open a dialogue channel with the HDP to receive information about the situation of the country first hand and thus be able to assess the situation.

For her part, Ebru Gunay made reference to the deep violation of human rights in Turkey and to the worsening of the situation after the 15 July coup attempt. she also mentioned that there will be very dark moments for the people of Turkey.
