HDP delegation meets with SPD Foreign Affairs Spokesman

A delegation from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has met with German Social Democratic Party (SPD) Foreign Affairs Spokesman Nils Schmid.

Former co-mayor of Cizre, Leyla İmret, Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) Stuttgart Co-spokesperson Heci Osman, FCK’s Seval Gümüş and DTKM (Democratic Kurdish Society Center) Co-president Garip Nurhak met with German Social Democratic party (SPD) Foreign Affairs Spokesman Nils Schmid in Nurtingen, Germany.

The meeting witnessed a discussion of the unequal circumstances of June 24’s snap elections and ongoing imprisonment of HDP’s Presidential Candidate Selahattin Demirtaş.

Schmid pointed out that it was difficult to hold free and fair elections under the ongoing State of Emergency.

Describing the imprisonment of Demirtaş and other HDP deputies as unacceptable, Schmid said; “We don’t approve Turkey pursuing a wrong policy and subjecting the Kurds, oppressed democratic peoples and media to repression and intimidation.”
