HDP delegation diplomacy visit to Germany

For the first time since 2016, the HDP is preparing for a three-day meeting in the capital Berlin.

The co-chair of the party, Sezai Temelli will lead the delegation made up of deputies Mithat Sancar and Feleknas Uca and HDP spokespersons in Germany, Leyla İmret and Sinan Önal.

The visit will begin on Monday, September 10 and last until Wednesday, September 12. The HDP delegation will visit Germany at a very critical time as a new era in relations between Berlin and Ankara is about to start.

Both German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas two-day visit to Turkey and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visit to Germany on September 28 have been a topic of discussion in the press.

The HDP delegation will try to send Berlin the message in the context of democratization and reforms in Turkey. In addition, the HDP will meet with the German government representatives from both political parties, especially to rise the issue of the need to start peace talks again in Turkey.

Also on the agenda of HDP are the problems experienced in the adaptation of immigrants living in Germany and the increasing xenophobia in the east of the country in recent times.

It was learned that the HDP delegation received interview appointments at higher levels of all parties in the Bundestag, except for the racist party Alternative for Germany (AFD).

The delegation is expected to meet on Monday with the following politicians: On behalf of the CDU / CSU Group Presidency, Dr. Andreas Nick, Green Party Chairman of the Assembly Group Katrin Göring-Eckardt and Dr. Anton Hofreiter, FDP Parliamentary Group Vice-President and former party leader Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, Left Party Parliamentary Group Co-Presidents Sahra Wagenknecht and Dietmar Bartsch.

In addition, the HDP delegation will meet with experts from some foundations in the evening after the meeting with the Left Party.

The HDP and the Turkey-Germany deputies of the Friendship Group have organised a press conference on Tuesday at 11 at the Federal Press Conference.

On Tuesday afternoon, the HDP delegation will get together with Left Party co-presidents Katja Kipping and Bernd Riexinger. In the evening, the delegation plans to come together with the parliamentary group leader Andrea Nahles of the SPD government party.
