HDP co-chair Temelli: The search for justice goes on

HDP co-chair said: "To talk about an independent and impartial judiciary in Turkey is not possible today. Here there is a need for a quest for justice."

HDP co-chair Sezai Temelli followed the hearing of  the case of former HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtas at the European Court of Human Rights Grand Chamber.

As well as by Sezai Temelli, the hearing was attended by HDP spokesperson of the Law and Human Rights Commission and Batman deputy Ayşe Acar Başaran, co-spokesperson for the Foreign Relations Commission and Batman deputy Feleknas Uca, Mardin deputy Pero Dündar and lawyers.

Following the hearing, Temelli and Dr. Kerem Altıparmak made same remarks to the press outside the Court.

Temelli said: "What we have witnessed here was the exposure of the illegality going on in Turkey. Selahattin Demirtas case has a very great importance for Turkey. I want to thank especially the defending lawyers who embrace a very powerful struggle against this great injustice.
This great injustice, which started in the process of the removal of immunities, has in fact turned into the detention of all our friends, beginning with Selahattin Demirtaş, Figen Yüksekdağ and the other friends. There is great injustice and lawlessness. To talk about an independent and impartial judiciary in Turkey is not possible today."

Temelli added: "Today, the search for justice against this judicial system continues. I hope this search for justice would not be delayed."

Temelli said that he hoped the decision of the ECHR would help ending "this great injustice. I hope that we can put an end to this process together by making an example of this case."
