HDP appeals to the YSK for election results in Hakkari

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has appealed to the YSK after the appeals to district and provincial electoral boards were rejected.

A delegation from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (Halkların Demokratik Partisi - HDP) including Van MP and Central Executive Committee Member Bedia Özgökçe, Muazzez Orhan, Hakkari MP Sait Dere, Hakkari Parliamentary Candidate Özgür Zeydanoğlu, HDP Census Member Zahide Besi, Nurettin Turgut and Hasan Özgüneş appealed to the Supreme Board of Elections (Yüksek Seçim Kurulu - YSK) for the election results in Hakkari. The committee later held a press conference in the HDP Hakkari office.

HDP Van MP Bedia Özgökçe Ertan stated that the verdict following the appeal in Muş was significant.

Özgökçe said: “Different verdicts being issued for the same reasons in different provinces of the same country will show the double standard in the law.”

Özgökçe added: “We did submit all information to not cause this outcome in our appeals to the district and provincial electoral boards, but it is obvious that the boards disregarded it. It is our wish that a just verdict comes out of the appeal we made about the election outcome in Hakkari. A verdict to the contrary will mean ignoring the will of the people of Hakkari.”
