Peoples' Democratic Congress Europe (Halkların Demokratik Kongresi-Avrupa - HDK-A) Co-spokespeople Asiye Esra Güden and Demir Çelik issued a statement on the June 24 elections.

The statement congratulated Co-chairs Pervin Buldan and Sezai Temelli and stressed that despite running a campaign from prison and all the black propaganda he went up against, Selahattin Demirtaş coming in third in the presidential elections is commendable.

"HDP BECAME HOPE ONCE AGAIN"

The statement said the June 24 elections were held under unjust and unequal conditions where virtually all rights were confiscated under the State of Emergency and added: "The operations to disband democratic politics that have continued for the last 3 years have continued without a hitch during the election process."

The statement stressed that the HDP overcame the threshold despite all the anti-democratic practices and decisions in the illegitimate election that was carried out through illegitimate practices, and continued: "HDP has achieved to become the third biggest party in the parliament with both the percentage of votes and the seats won in the Parliament, thus becoming hope for our peoples once more."

"IT HAS BEEN SEEN THAT IT WON'T WORK WITHOUT THE HDP"

The statement said the following:

"The peoples of Turkey have put forth once again that without the HDP, there can be no parliamentary regime, no democracy, and no fight for rights and justice. Our peoples have taken action with the awareness that without he HDP, a dignified peace, democracy, pluralism and a new and free life can't exist, and have taken the chance to show the government and the one-man dictatorship that this is a popular movement that can't be stopped.

There is a greater need than ever before for the HDP and its organized strength in the united fight against fascism in Turkey. The dignified peace that our struggle for democracy, freedom, justice and equality will bring our peoples together in will be possible through the democratic politics of HDP and the HDK."
