Group from Mainz takes over Freedom for Öcalan Vigil

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil, the longest protest organised by Kurds in Europe, has been taken over by a new group of activists from Mainz on its 362nd week.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil this week, the 362nd, has been taken over by a group of Kurdish activists from the German city of Mainz.

The activists are: Ali Azad, Murat Öz and three other people called Ismail. The Vigil began 7 years ago, in 2012, in front of the European Council in Strasbourg.

The group underlined the importance and the success achieved by the hunger strike resistance and reminded of the 7 prisoners and 2 activists who gave their life in the resistance demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Around 2,000 Kurdish activists living in Europe have joined the Vigil since 25 June 2012 when it first began demanding freedom for Öcalan.
