Gothenburg City Council members donate for YPG/YPJ
The members of the city council of the Left Party in Gothenburg have donated their allowances to the YPG/YPJ.
In a written statement, Johanna Eliasson, the Gothenburg left-wing faction's international relations officer and city councillor, announced that they donated the faction's expense allowances for the city council meeting on 21 November to the People's and Women's Defense Units (YPG/YPJ).
Johanna Eliasson also called on the other members of the city council to show solidarity with Rojava and said: "The YPG/YPJ are the most important force against the ISIS". She pointed out that many of the ISIS mercenaries in Syria also come from Gothenburg.
The left-wing youth in Sweden had started a fundraising campaign for the YPG/YPJ immediately after the launch of Turkey’s aggression on Rojava. So far 200,000 crowns, about 18,550 euros, have been collected.
