Podemos in Getafe, Madrid, has presented a proposal written by Rojava Azadî Madrid to the city council to support the social revolution in Kurdistan, condemn the Turkish invasion of NE Syria and the crimes committed by mercenaries linked to Turkey.

The proposal also sought to condemn the dismissal and detention of HDP elected mayors in North Kurdistan.

Specifically, the proposal consisted of the following points:

First - Condemn the invasion of Turkey and the war crimes committed by jihadists in northern Syria.

Second - Condemn the dismissal and detention of HDP mayors democratically and freely elected in North Kurdistan.

Third - Transfer the present agreements to the President of the Government in office, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in office, to the parliamentary groups that form the European Parliament and to the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces.

The proposal, debated this week in the municipal plenary, was approved with the votes in favor of virtually all political parties except for far right Vox, which abstained.

Faruq Eyyup Doru, HDP representative in Spain, spoke to the plenary saying: "I myself am the political representative of a party that is third force in Turkey, but today I will talk about the occupation of Turkey from another State that is next door, Syria. An occupation that has already caused more than 300,000 displaced people."

Explaining that Rojava is a part of Syria where Kurds, Christians, Assyrians, Chaldeans, Armenians and Arabs lived together, Eyyup Doru denounced the invasion: "This area, without any reason, has been occupied by Turkey through Islamist groups coming from al-Qaeda, al-Nusra and ISIS. "

Eyyup Doru told the councilors of the different political groups: "I ask you to support this proposal that could be a moral support for all the people who live there and fight for democracy and coexistence."
