Germany starts withdrawing troops from Incirlik

The German soldiers withdrawn from the Incirlik Air Base will be sent to the air base in Jordan.

An official from Germany’s Defense Ministry spoke to Reuters and announced that on Sunday the aerial refuelling aircraft has been withdrawn from the Incirlik Air Base.

On June 7, Germany’s cabinet had decided to withdraw German troops from the Incirlik Air Base in Turkey and the Parliament had approved the decision.

Germany has more than 200 soldiers positioned in the Incirlik Air Base now, and they are responsible for Tornado jets’ surveillance missions in Syria and refuelling International Coalition aircrafts.

German soldiers withdrawn from the Incirlik Air Base will be sent to the air base in Jordan, and the 6 Tornado scouting planes and one refuelling tanker will be transferred there.
