The siege against the long march continues in Karlsruhe, Germany. Following the police attack against the march, protesters gathered in the Karlsruhe Democratic Kurdish Society Center (DKTM) early in the morning.

The protesters have been marching from Mannheim towards Strasbourg for days, and were attacked by the police on Tuesday evening. 4 activists were wounded during the attack and many were battered.

After the attack, protesters gathered in the Karlsruhe DKTM in the morning to continue their March. They were met with intense police presence and a helicopter continuously flew overhead.

Zozan Serhat from the march committee issued a statement on how the march will continue in the Karlsruhe DKTM.

HOW WILL THE MARCH CONTINUE?

Serhat said: “Germany is trying to hinder the Kurdish movement, especially the Kurdish youth. That is why they want to cancel our marching permits. The young people in the march were very conscientious throughout the march, but the police attacked harshly yesterday (Tuesday).”

Serhat said Germany has been trying to hinder the struggle for freedom since 1988 like Turkey has, and added: “They issue laws specifically for us. We are the Kurdish youth, and we will uphold our Leader to the end.”

Serhat said the day of the attack was also the day Mesopotamia Publishing and Mir Music were raided and shut down:

“Then they attacked us. Our march in Germany wasn’t allowed. Today the intense security precautions around the association is the result of our determination and resistance. But after the meetings we held, the permit still wasn’t issued. We will join the international leg with buses from here and continue to march afterwards.
