Freedom for Öcalan Vigil reaches week 389

Launched on 25 June 2012 in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil has reached week 389.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil reached week 389. The action is being carried out in Strasbourg, and this week has been taken over by Mehmet Okan, Turan Sönmez, Serhat Cizreli and Taşdemir Anlı from Paris.

Last week it was carried out by three Kurdish activists from Switzerland and France.

The action has been going on for almost 8 years, and continues with new groups of activists taking it over every week.

In the statement, the Paris group emphasized that the struggle for the freedom of the Kurdish people's leader was determined and that the Vigil would be carried out until freedom is achieved.

The statement said that "Öcalan may not be everywhere physically but with his thoughts are. Which is why so many people have been coming here in Strasbourg for seven years, every day of every month."

Activists said: "The world must know the patience of the Kurdish struggle. We have demonstrate our determination to the world with our action."
