Freedom for Öcalan Vigil reached week 371

A new group of Kurds from Hannover has taken over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in its 371st week.

On 25 June 2012 the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil was launched in front of the Council of Europe building in Strasbourg, France.

A new group of Kurds from Hannover have taken over the action on Sunday.

The group includes Yazidi women Edle Aslan and Xezal Yalti and is completed by Koçer Adıbelli and Mehmet Salih Bager.

Edle Aslan, speaking on behalf of the group, underlined that the captivity of Öcalan which has been going on for more than 20 years, can never be accepted.

The 8th year of the Vigil in front of the Council of Europe, pointed out that Aslan, is an action that will continue until "we achieve what we demand."

Aslan stated that the isolation against Öcalan was broken by the hunger strike resistance and the resistance of the mothers, but warned about the possibility of isolation being reactivated.

Aslan stated that the Kurdish people would not give up the struggle until Öcalan is free and called on all Kurds living in Europe to "support the action".

Last week it was the turn of the Yazidi women to take over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil.
