Fascist attack against demo for Öcalan in Greece

Demonstrators for Öcalan were targeted in Lavrio.

Kurds held a demonstration in the Greek city of Lavrio on Thursday to protest the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the denial of mandates for HDP’s newly elected co-mayors in the Kurdish region.

A fascist driver drove into the crowd as the protest continued, injuring one of them, Emin Asın. The Kurdish demonstrator was then hospitalized and his treatment is reported to be continuing.

On the other hand, the driver was taken into custody by the Greek police.

The crowd carried flags of PKK, KCK, YJA-STAR, YPG and YPJ, chanting “Fascism will be buried in Kurdistan”, “Murderer Erdoğan”, “Biji Serok Apo” [Long Live Leader Öcalan].

Demonstrators remembered martyrs of the Kurdistan struggle as they sang the Kurdish anthem “Çerxa Şoreşe”.

Reading the press release, Şener Salih noted that the AKP-MHP fascist alliance did not recognise the results of March 31 local elections, saying; “The will of the people has been seized, the will of those who voted for the HDP that thus re-won the municipalities usurped from them through the state-appointed trustees. The Kurdish people will never accept this.”

Saluting the hunger strike resistance joined by thousands of Kurdish activists all around the world, Salih said; “The Kurdish people will definitively break the isolation of the Leader.”
