Families application to go to Imrali rejected

The families of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and the other prisoners in Imralı have been denied permit to visit their relatives.

Mehmet Öcalan, brother of Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and his guardian Mazlum Dinç, were denied an application by Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to go to İmralı on Monday. 

Likewise, families of the three other prisoners in Imrali, Hamili Yildirim's brother Polat Yildirim, Omar Hayri Konar's sister Emin Konar and Veysi Aktas' sister Sabiha Aslan, have seen their applications rejected.

The Prosecutor's Office rejected the applications on the grounds of “restrictions on convicts as per Law on the Execution of Criminal and Security Measures No. 5275 ”.

Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş had been able to meet with their families for the first time on 5 June this year. They had not met them since 15 March 2015.

Hamili Yıldırım was taken to Imralı on 15 July 2015 and had been able to meet his family on 5 June this year.
