A delegation from the European Platform for Afrin held a series of talks at the European Parliament regarding the Turkish state’s genocidal attacks on Afrin Canton of Northern Syria.

A delegation from constituents of the European Platform for Afrin held a series of talks at the European Parliament regarding the Turkish state’s genocidal attacks on Afrin Canton of Northern Syria.

The delegation made up of HDP Representative for Europe Eyüp Doru, KCDK-E co-chair Yüksel Koç, TJK-E spokesperson Dilşa Osman, PUK member Tofik Nadjim, ATİK member Ozan Demir, Shengal Diaspora Assembly co-chair Fikret İgrek, Belgian Platform for Afrin . member Eren Koç, Gorran Movement member Mustafa Ranjdar Makhded met with EP Turkey Rapporteur Kati Piri, Chair of the European Unified Left/ Northern Green Left, Gabriele Zimmer, and members of Christian and Liberal groups.

Speak about the meetings, HDP Representative for Europe, Eyüp Doru, said the following;

“We as representatives of HDP, and political parties from Turkey and Kurdistan held 9 meetings at the European Parliament. We highlighted our demands for the closure of Afrin’s airspace, EP’s sending of a delegation to Afrin, Turkey’s immediate withdrawal from the region and dispatching of urgent humanitarian aid. The officials we talked to have condemned the Turkish invasion of Afrin.”

According to Doru, Kati Piri criticized the European states for being inactive on this matter, stating that the European Parliament has made decisions in this regard but still member states do not act on parliament level.
