Enver Muslim at Rome Conference: Our project is based on communes

Speaking about the organization model in the fields of health, education, defense and others, Muslim said their project is based on communes.

The conference held in Rome under the title “Democratic Confederalism, Municipalism and Global Democracy - Vision and Strategies from Kurdistan” continues. The conference which will end today is attended by academics from all around the world.

Euphrates Region Executive Council Co-president Enver Muslim attended the conference on its last day and talked about the functioning and organization of the Federation of North and East Syria which involves seven regions.

Muslim said that there are 548 communes in the Kobanê Canton in the Euphrates Region where there are 890 communes in total, as well as dozens of assemblies.

Speaking about the organization model in the fields of health, education, defense and others, Muslim said their project is based on communes.

Muslim remarked that everyone is joining these communes with this strategic project despite its deficiencies. He noted that every single person takes part in society and continue with their efforts for the achievement of the democratic nation mission.

Former co-mayor of Cizre district of Şırnak, Leyla Imret, also attended the conference, talking about the Turkish state’s annihilation plan against the Kurds and the massacres perpetrated by state forces in the Kurdish towns of Sur, Cizre and Nusaybin.

Imret spoke of a ‘coup mechanism’ implemented with the recent seizure of HDP municipalities in Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van.

In her speech in Kurdish, Imret told about the HDP’s co-presidential system and women’s activities within HDP-run municipalities. She said; “We have worked with the sense of a democratic, ecological and women-libertarian municipal administration.”

Imret also highlighted her confidence that the freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan could pave the way for the freedom of society and a lasting peace.
