Election coordination set up for HDP in Belgium

Together with the Women Coordination it will campaign for the HDP among voters abroad

Representatives of people and institutions from different parts of Belgium met to coordinate work for the 24 June early elections in Turkey and formed an Election Coordination.

The Coordination will canvass for the HDP in Belgium thanks to the help from Alevi and Kurdish institutions, NGO and constitutional institutions, left organizations and independent people.

The participants said at the meeting on Saturday that the AKP-MHP, that has called for an early elections under the State of Emergency, actually aims at usurping the future of the country. The people agreed that HDP will play a crucial role in this election.
People at the meeting said that voters in Europe will represent a strong voice in Europe and will demonstrated that the AKP fascism is about to collapse.

Local commissions to canvass in every city

The Coordination has begun its work by creating local commissions that will operate all over Belgium. The first priority of the local commissions is to ensure that voters register before 4 May so to be unable to cast their vote abroad. In addition, the Coordination has set out a program of  public meetings in cities and borough around Belgium, door to door canvassing and other propaganda work.

The Coordination will also guarantee safety during the voting process at the consulates, as well as helping voters to reach them. Another task of the group will be to inform people on why it is important to cast their vote. Likewise, a delegation will be going from Belgium to Turkey to monitor the election process there.

Women coalition also created

Women living in Belgium have also created their own Women Coordination bringing together Kurdish and Turkish women. The AKP policies are specifically targeting women and their conquests, as women proved to be the most influencial social group.

While canvassing and campaigning for the HDP the Women Coordination will stress issues like violence against women, feminicides and harassment of women which have dramatically increased during the AKP government.
