Demo against isolation in front of the SPD office in Berlin

Solidarity actions in support of the Kurdish hunger strike campaign continue in the German capital city Berlin.

A demonstration was held in front of the SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany) office, a partner of the federal government, in Berlin, Germany.

The demonstration in Kreuzberg district in Berlin was organized by NAV-DEM in Berlin and DEST-DAN Women’s Council. Signs reading ‘Freedom for Ocalan’, ‘Let us speak up for Ocalan’ and ‘Violence against women is political’ were carried during the event.

Melek Yula spoke on behalf of NAV-DEM in Berlin and DEST-DAN Women’s Council.

Yula issued a call to the SPD members of parliament and said: “Leyla Guven, a Kurdish MP is facing death every minute. Hundreds of activists, politicians, and political prisoners, in Kurdistan, Turkey and abroad have launched hunger strikes to support Guven’s demands. How can you remain silent while a colleague of yours is dying before the world’s eyes? When there is still time, act against dictator Erdogan and the fascist ruling of AKP-MHP alliance.”

The demonstrators later chanted: “Freedom for Ocalan, status for Kurdistan,” “Stop the genocide in Kurdistan,” “Erdogan is a fascist killer,” “Occupying forces out of Kurdistan,” “German tanks out of Kurdistan” and “Long live Guven’s resistance!”

Kurds in Berlin, today at 3 PM will hold another solidarity action in front of Fernsehturm.
