Demirtaş sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison

The Turkish regime’s political genocide practices against the Kurdish people and their elected representatives continue unabated.

Former co-chair of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtaş was arrested on November 4, 2016, together with 12 other HDP deputies, including other co-mayor, Figen Yüksekdağ.

The final hearing in the case in which Demirtaş stands trial for “opposition to law no 2911” was held in Ankara today.

The court sentenced Demirtaş to one year and three months in prison and suspended the sentence.
