Court in Stuttgart sentences Salih K. to 3 years in prison

Kurdish politician Salih K., who is on trial in Stuttgart, was sentenced to 3 years in prison.

The ruling on the case opened in Stuttgart against Kurdish politician Salih K. was delivered yesterday.

In the 129b trial against Kurdish politician Salih K., the public prosecutor's office demanded a prison sentence of three years and six months.

The 63-year old Kurdish man is accused of having been responsible for the Freiburg area as cadre of a "terrorist organization abroad". He is accused of numerous protest actions, for the organization of which he is alleged to have been responsible.

The court found the prosecutor's request admissable and sentenced Salih K. to 3 years in prison for "strong evidence". The president of the court stated that a written objection to the decision is possible within a week.

Salih K. is married and has 3 children. He has sought asylum in Germany and has serious health problems.

The first hearing of the trial against the Kurdish politician, who has been in prison since 21 June 2018, was held on 17 April 2019.
