The Constitutional Court (CC) of Turkey will be assessing HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş’s appeal on December 6 and issuing a verdict. HDP had appealed with the CC that the arrests were unconstitutional shortly after the co-chairs and MPs were arrested.

The CC announced that they will be assessing HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş’s appeal on December 6 and issue a verdict.

The CC had recently rejected Gülser Yıldırım’s appeal, unlike the Balbay and Haberal verdicts in the past, on grounds that “the long term arrest limit had not been reached” and “the arrest does not constitute obstruction of law making activity”.
