Civil Assembly in Deir ez-Zor meeting people’s needs

Committees work around the clock to meet people's needs in Deir ez-Zor.

After the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) liberated and secured the eastern rural areas of the Deir ez-Zor from the DAESH mercenaries, people returned to their homes and started to rebuild their lives. 

Deir ez-Zor Civil Assembly established several different institutions in the region with the purpose of serving the public. Setting up committees and assemblies was one of the big steps taken to bring back normality in people’s lives.

Education Committee

In line with the principles of the Autonomous Administration, granting education a special place in the shaping of the new society, an Education Committee was soon set up. 

It immediately began working in the liberated areas to open schools and secure the return to school of the many students. 

Deprived of their education rights for 7 years, students have finally been able to return to school. 

The Committee reopened 322 schools in the liberated areas to the east of Dei ez-Zor. There are 3,869 teachers working in these schools where a total of 114,000 thousand students are studying.

The Committee restored the damaged schools. In the areas of Jazrat and Abu Khasab were four schools had been severely damaged, the Committee provided to their reparation. 

At the moment a training center for teachers training has also been established.

Health Committee

The Health Committee has opened a hospital that provides free medical services in the Kesra region. The hospital also provided services for women and children.

Heyva Sor a Kurd in Deir ez-Zor has been helping with the delivery of medicines and medical kits, especially to the Ebu Xeseb refugee camp.

Municipality

Deir ez-Zor Civil Council has established a special committee for municipal work. This committee is working around the clock to meet the needs of the citizens.

Deir ez-Zor Civil Assembly has already opened 7 municipalities in the district of Deir Ezzor.

Bakery

The Council's Bakeries Committee has opened over 20 bakeries in the countryside of Deir Ezzor to meet people's needs.

Drinking Water Works

The Water Directorate was also activated and the repair of water networks are underway. 

The water department has repaired 32 water stations. These water stations provide drinking water to Cezra, Milac, Ebu Xeseb, Cerwan, El Kiber, Hemar El Eli, Sexir El Cezire, Mihemid, Hewic, Sefira, El Qeqra.

Agriculture

The Agriculture Committee, with the help of the Mihemid village council, has set up agricultural cooperatives and the wheat center in Abu Kashab. The needs of the farmers were supported.

The Agriculture Committee also activated 12 irrigation centers in Deir ez-Zor.

Deir ez-Zor Civil Council co-president, Xesan Al Yusif called on aid organisations to support the Council and help it carrying out their work to provide better services to the population.
