As the popular protests continue in Iran and Rojhilat (Eastern Kurdistan), citizens have been withdrawing their money from banks and buying gold and US dollars. USD is on a hike.

Iranian Gold and Foreign Currency Traders Union Member Ehmed Wefadar spoke to Iran’s semi-official agency ILNA and said citizens are withdrawing their money from banks and started buying gold and US dollars.

Wefadar said USD and gold are on a rapid hike in the markets and added that the amount of USD in circulation is on a decline and they are expecting the hike in USD and gold to continue as long as the protests.

USD was 4.000 Iranian Tomans last week, and now the rate is at 4.343 Iranian Tomans. This is the figure given by the Iranian Central Bank, while market rates of USD have seen 4.500 Tomans.
