An explosive laden vehicle was detonated in Mosul, Iraq on Thursday evening. At least one person died in the attack while 13 others were wounded.

The attack in Mosul took place near the university. Local authorities believe ISIS is responsible for the attack in which at least one person died and 13 others were wounded.

Signs that ISIS gangs, having been militarily defeated and having lost their hold in Northern and Eastern Syria, are attempting to reorganize in Iraq are increasing.

In the last few months, there have been many attacks in Kirkuk, Diyala, Anbar, Tikrit and Salahaddin provinces as well as their districts and villages.

ISIS gangs had taken over Mosul in June 2014 almost without any clashes, and declared their “caliphate” from the historic Al-Nuri mosque. The invasion of Mosul had been a kick-off point for ISIS gangs to advance in Iraq and Syria, all the while committing genocide and crimes against humanity in a wide area. The ISIS occupation of Mosul ended in 2017, but the city was devastated.
