Canadian MP to take hunger strikes to the parliament

Canadian MP Ziad Aboultaif telephoned Yusuf Iba, who has been on an indefinite nonalternating hunger strike for 49 days in Toronto, Canada, and asked about his health and his protest. Aboultaif said he will take the matter to the parliament.

DTK Co-chair and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Guven’s hunger strike launched 115 days ago protesting the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan spread throughout the world.

A young Kurdish man, Yusuf Iba, who lives in Toronto, Canada has been on an indefinite nonalternating hunger strike for 49 days.

Despite his health issues, Iba continues. Interested in his protest, Aboultaif telephoned Iba as he was in the capital Ottawa and said he respects the protest, but couldn’t make it in person as he was out of town and that he is closely following the issue.

Aboultaif will visit Iba in Toronto next week with several other MPs and give a speech in the parliament in Ottawa about the issue.
