Appeal to the Constitutional Court for Demirtas

Following the ECHR ruling that he should be released and Erdogan’s comments that they don’t recognize the verdict, Selahattin Demirtas’s lawyers have appealed to the Constitutional Court.

Imprisoned former HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtas’s lawyers have appealed to the Constitutional Court to enforce the ECHR verdict for his release.

Demirtas’ lawyer Reyhan Yalcindag said Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan’s comments were “a direct intervention with the judiciary”.

“WE APPEALED TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT THIS WEEK”

Yalcindag said the court didn’t respond to Demirtas’ petitions to be released: “When we put these statements together, there is a preparation to make a move. They have initiated a move.”

Yalcindag said a new appeal has been submitted to the Constitutional Court as per this week, and added that they will submit another appeal to the ECHR.
