AKP's political coup against HDP condemned in London

Kurds and their friends in London protested the AKP decision to appoint trustees and replace the HDP co-mayors of Van, Amed and Mardin.

Kurdish activists in London joined a protest against the seizure of the metropolitan municipalities on Monday night. The action was promoted by the British Democratic Union in front of Woodgreen Library in North London.

The protest was attended by a large number of institutions condemning the AKP decision to walk over the will of the people as a political coup.

Activists carried HDP flags and a banner in English, saying ”Don't remain silent against Turkish fascism".

Speeches were delivered by Nejla Ari, Mehmet Kardu and Gik-Der director İbrahim Avcil, co-chairs of the London Kurdish People's Assembly.

All speeches underlined that the seizure of the municipalities was a clear political coup and a continuation of the hostile attitude towards the will of the Kurdish people.

The British Democratic Forces Union called on everyone to join the demonstration to be held in Trafalgar Square on Saturday at 2 pm.
