Özkan Özdemir reached day 17 of his hunger strike in Paris

International Red Collective in Defense of Political Prisoners representatives visited Ozkan Ozdemir who told them about the different phases of the hunger strike carried out by over 7,000 prisoners.

AvEG-Kon member H. Özkan Özdemir has reached the 16th day of indefinite hunger strike. Özdemir continues its action in Paris and receives many visitors.

Kurds living in Paris visit Özdemir throughout the day and do not leave him alone.

International Red Collective in Defense of Political Prisoners representatives visited Ozkan Ozdemir who told them about the different phases of the hunger strike carried out by over 7,000 prisoners.

Explaining how isolation is affecting all social groups, Özdemir drew attention to the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. He also condemned and underlined the silence with which the European states address the hunger strike is due to their economic and political relations with the Turkish state.

The Red Collective representatives stated that they would support this national and international action and gave examples of hunger strikes by Moroccan and Palestinian revolutionary prisoners. The representative of the Red Collective said: “All the prisoners have been successful no matter how difficult the hunger strike. We believe that your hunger strike will succeed.”

The Collective also drew attention to the censorship in the Turkish state media.
