Dozens of Kurds staying in the Lavrion Refugee Camp in Greece have started two-day hunger strike in solidarity with the political prisoners on hunger strike in Turkish jails.

The statement on behalf of 86 participants of the hunger strike said the following:

“We are in full support of the political prisoners who resist the AKP fascism in Turkey and North Kurdistan. We have launched a hunger strike to demand an end to the isolation on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, torture and repression of political prisoners, operations of political genocide and policy of genocide pursued against the Kurdish people. The hunger strike ongoing in Turkish jails for 63 days has entered a critical stage. We therefore call upon everyone to give voice to prisons.”

The two-day hunger strike will be followed by demonstrations and protests in capital city Athens from Thursday on.
