Police forces conducted simultaneous house raids in the western İzmir province and its Bayındır, Torbalı and Menemen districts early Tuesday morning.

18 people were taken into custody in the operation, among them HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) administrators and members and Zarife Karasungur, co-chair of İzmir branch of the YAK-DER (Association of Relatives of the Disappeared) which was shut down by the government with a statutory decree.
