Police forces conducted simultaneous house raids in Menemen district of İzmir Friday morning.

17 people including HDP Menemen district administrators were detained in the operation which was instructed by İzmir Public Prosecutor's Office in the scope of an investigation on “social media posts”.

The detainees were handcuffed from behind and taken to İzmir provincial security directorate while their computers, phones and photographs were also confiscated.

Families of the detainees said they were facing an intimidation policy of the government but would never bow to such practices.
