15 August celebrated in Saratov

Kurds living in Russia celebrated the anniversary of the 15 August Initiative in Saratov.

Kurds living in Saratov, in the Russian Federation, celebrated the 35th anniversary of the 15 August Initiative. A large crowd joined the celebration at the same time condemning the attacks against Rojava and Medya Defense Areas.

The event was held at the Sabornaya cultural hall and was attended by Ivan Doroshin, a member of the Public Relations Committee of the Saratov Government, Zorik Grygorievic, President of the Armenian Youth Branch, Vasilyi Konstanovic, the President of the Cultural Association of Moldova, Krivosheeva Valentina Ivanovna, the President of the Kavkas Cultural Association and Shariya Emiliya Gurgenov.

Later, the co-chair of the Kurdish Cultural Autonomy in Saratov, Yakup Hamidov, spoke about the importance of the 15 August Initiative which "started a new struggle as well as giving way to the birth of a new Kurd. Until 15 August 1984, - said Hamidov - Kurds were denied all rights. But with the initiative launched by commander Agit, a struggle for freedom grew in the four parts of Kurdistan. Today, Kurds defend themselves and their lands with the spirit of this initiative from Shengal to Rojava and Bakur."

The Turkish state, said Hamidov, "does not want Kurds to benefit from their gains and this is why it attacks South Kurdistan and Rojava today. The AKP-MHP coalition wants to break the will of the free Kurd. But just as the Kurdish people won with great will against the ISIS gangs supported by the Turkish state in Shengal and Rojava, they will achieve victory against these new attacks today."
Erol Berxwedan, Kamuran Gasanov, Hozan Emran, Senem Usmahava, Assad Ahmedov and Berçem children's folklore group performed on stage.
