149 workers lost their life at work in June

Since the beginning of the year, 907 workers have lost their life at work in Turkey.

The Workers Health and Safety Council has released its June report on death at work.

The report noted that at least 149 workers have lost their lives while working in June, while two farmers died from work-related illness.

The report underlined that from the beginning of the year, at least 907 workers lost their life while working or in work-related accidents.

In detail, the report shows that 144 workers died in January, 128 in February, 129 in March, 188 in April, 169 in May, and 149 in June.

Of those who lost their life in June, nine were women, and 140 men.

The women who died were working in the agriculture, trade and hospitality sectors.

The report also stated that a total of 6 child workers lost their lives. Two of them were 14 or younger. The six were said to be refugees and/or migrants.

According to the Report of the Workers Health and Safety Council in 2017 there were a total of 2,006 work-related death.
