People's Defense Center Command issued a written statement on Newroz Holiday, and said “We celebrate the Newroz Holiday, the day of salvation for oppressed people, of Leader Öcalan who saved our people from the brink of annihilation and brought us our values. We celebrate the Newroz of our martyrs' families, our patriotic people, people's allies, comrades and peoples that believe in this tradition. We commemorate our Çağdaş Kawa Mazlum Doğan comrade and all of our immortal martyrs that give Newroz its true meaning. The light of our heroic martyrs always brightens our path and deepens our commitment to freedom and the tradition of Newroz.”

‘NEWROZ IS THE RESURRECTION OF HOPE’

People's Defense Center Command described Newroz as the resurrection of hope and peoples' great victory march, and said “Our people have resisted colonialism with the spirit of Newroz and maintained its belief in free life throughout the history of Kurdistan. Newroz is the name of protecting existence, defending all national and social values, and putting an end to the dangers that surround these values. Therefore, Kurdish people are a people of Newroz and have made their existence, unity and organization in these sacred lands permanent as they recreated themselves in the fire of Newroz.”

‘IT IS TIME TO PROTECT THE PEOPLES’

People's Defense Center Command said “As an actor of the on-going process in the Middle East, the people of Kurdistan no longer accept the colonialist cruelty, denial, and insult imposed upon them as well as the lack of a status. People have no tolerance for the cruelty and denial they have been facing to experience another day, and want to live freely and with their own identity as all other people in the world desire. Therefore, our people will light the fire of Newroz and show its will of freedom, democracy and solution with the slogan of “We will prevail.”

At a time when the fate of the people of Kurdistan will be sealed, new Dehaks are having a difficult time as they are faced with the reality of a free Kurdistan and are using Kurdish collaborators to yield results. All Kurdistani forces and democratic groups should be alert at a time when the eyes of the entire world is on Kurdistan and colonialist countries are employing special war policies in order to eliminate our people. Those that fall into the trap of AKP-MHP fascism will have to testify before people and history. It is time for all Kurdistani powers to unite under the National-Democratic Congress and resist colonialist policies of genocide in order to protect peoples from all attacks.

Recently, the treacherous attack on our Êzidî people and Shengal Resistance Units in Shengal are provocative and have nothing to do with Kurdishness or patriotism. There is nothing humane about using weapons against causing the martyrdom of the civilian people of Shengal who have suffered from the Massacre. Those that have carried out the attack should stop treating Êzidî Kurdish women  and ISIS gang groups the same.

Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas welcome the Newroz of 2017 with great enthusiasm and are determined to make this Newroz beginning of their historic initiative. With this Newroz and their performance of victory, HPG guerrillas are completing the Restructuring Process that had began 4 years ago and can answer all attacks against our people, wherever they may come from. Guerrilla forces will play their role and respond to the enemy so that the efforts of our Leader and our people are not in vain. Our forces welcome the Newroz of 2017 with the preparation and concentration that is needed to crown the freedom struggle of Leader Öcalan and Kurdistan with victory, and will prevail with its modern-professional guerrilla performance during the greatest resistance history has ever witnessed.
