HDP MP: Dire allegations on Xerabê Bava confirmed

HDP Batman MP Mehmet Ali Aslan from the delegation that was once again denied access to Xerabê Bava today stated that they have confirmed the dire allegations of torture against the villagers.

The siege of Turkish state forces continues in Xerabê Bava village of Mardin's Nusaybin district for 14 days.

The DTK-DBP-HDP delegation has once again attempted to reach the village today but they were obstructed by soldiers on the way leading to the village. While the delegation accompanied by locals continue their vigil at the scene, there is an activity of ambulances and garbage trucks towards the village.

HDP Batman deputy Mehmet Ali Aslan from the delegation pointed out that the dire allegations of torture against the villagers have been confirmed with the testimonies of residents who have just been released from custody after a detention of 12 days.

Aslan said: "There had been serious claims of torture in the cities and towns placed under curfew last year, like Sur, Nusaybin, Cizre and Şırnak. The basements of atrocity in Cizre were a most concrete example in this regard. Back then, it was said that special operations of gendarme and police (JÖH and PÖH) would never do such a thing, and described the claims as "terrorist organisation propaganda". Surprisingly, they are defending and saying the same things today. We wonder which organisation they will hold responsible today. They themselves are responsible for what is being done in Xerabê Bava today."

HDP MP Mehmet Ali Aslan stated that two more villages in Nusaybin have been placed under curfew, adding: "They are trying to cover up the happenings here as a fait accompli. Sooner or later, they will be brought to book and justice. We will never give up on this issue."
