Demonstration in Cologne for Dersim and Hasankeyf

The devastation and exploitation of Northern Kurdistan's nature and history by the Turkish state was protested in a demonstration in the German city Cologne.

In protest at the ecocidal aggression of the Turkish state in Northern Kurdistan, Kurdish people living in German city Cologne joined the demonstration in front of Cologne’s main train station, where speeches were held by representatives of FEDA, AABF, AGÎF, FDG and Democratic Kurdish Society Center in Cologne.

Banners were held high, showing scenes of the wildfire caused by the Turkish state in the forest lands of Dersim as well as the devastation and destruction of Hasankey's history.

The speakers condemned the practices of the Turkish state that has started and fuels wildfires throughout Northern Kurdistan, and the detonation of Hasankeyf's ancient sites with dynamite, and commemorated the victims of the terror attack in Barcelona.

After the speeches, the mass started to march and attract the public's interest on the issue with slogans and distribution of leaflets.

The banners that attracted the most intention were a picture of a reindeer surrounded by raging forest fire, and a display of Palmyra and Hasankeyf before and after their destruction by ISIS and the Turkish state.

The demonstration was organized by NAV-DEM Cologne, FEDA, Viyan Women's Council in Cologne, AABF, ADEF, Dersim Council, Dersim Federation in Europe, AGIF, World To Live In Association, ADHK, Maraş Initiative and HDK- Cologne.
