Yazidi women visit cemetery of martyrs: We are in Shengal thanks to martyrs

As part of the March 8 activities, Yazidi women visited the Şehîd Dilgeş and Şehîd Berxwedan Cemetery of Martyrs in Shengal.

Events to mark March 8 International Women’s Day continue in the Shengal (Sinjar) town of southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq. As part of the series of actions, Yazidi women led by the Yazidi Women’s Freedom Movement (TAJÊ) visited the Şehîd Dilgeş and Şehîd Berxwedan Cemetery of Martyrs and left carnations on the graves of martyrs.

The women stated that they were living in Shengal today thanks to the martyrs, for which reason the first thing they did on all holidays and special days was to visit the cemeteries of martyrs to pay tribute to them.

Celebrating March 8 for all the martyrs and all women, Sêvê Kurto said, “We are welcoming the International Women’s Day freely on our lands today owing to our martyrs. They all came from four parts of Kurdistan and sacrificed their lives for our lands. The martyrs are sacred to us. They made history for a free Shengal.”
