MP Jelpke: Germany should take action against Erdoğan’s war

German MP Ulla Jelpke protested Erdogan threatening another invasion attack targeting Kurds in Rojava and said, “The federal government should take action against Erdogan’s threats.”

In a speech on Tuesday, Turkish President Erdogan spoke about an upcoming invasion attack targeting Kurds in Rojava, threatening to start the invasion operation “within a few days”.  Immediately after Erdogan’s comments, Turkish jets carried out an aerial attack against the Martyr Rustem Maxmur Refugee Camp last night.

Federal German MP Ulla Jelpke from Die Linke protested the Erdogan regime’s threats of an attack targeting Kurds and said the Turkish state is preparing for a new invasion at a time when ISIS gangs are about to be completely defeated. Jelpke added that a new operation would mean an attempt to “revive ISIS”.

“GERMANY SHOULD SPEAK UP AGAINST THIS WAR”

Die Linke’s domestic affairs spokesperson Jelpke stressed that the Turkish state’s invasion of Northern Syria, a region with various ethnic and religious groups, will trigger a mass migration wave in the area and called on the federal government to take action. Jelpke stated that the Merkel government should speak up against the Turkish state attack that will trample international law yet again.

Jelpke said, “Turkey is a NATO member and is using Germany’s weapons. This increases Germany’s responsibility.” Jelpke stated that the federal government should take action so the Turkish state doesn’t launch a new war together with Al Qaeda remnant gangs and added: “We must remember that YPG/YPJ fighters have put their lives on the line against ISIS and Al Qaeda gangs, making sure we live in safety in Europe.”
