Germany-wide protests against Turkey's attacks on Kurdistan

In many cities in Germany there have been protest actions against the Turkish state's attacks on Kurdistan.

In numerous cities in Germany, Kurds have again taken to the streets to protest against the Turkish state's campaign of annihilation in Kurdistan.

Duisburg

In front of Duisburg's central station a protest action was staged under the motto "Hands off my elected representatives! The Kurdish people are not alone". The rally began with a minute of silence. Afterwards Niyazi Öztaş, co-chairman of the Democratic Kurdish Community Center (DKTM) in Duisburg, gave a speech and said the following: "The fascist Turkish state continues its fierce military attacks on Kurdistan. Bakur, Bashur, Rojava are constantly bombed, every day people are killed and the nature of Kurdistan is destroyed.”

The crowd also protested against the repression in Turkey and the deposition of elected mayors and demanded freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and all political prisoners.

Salzgitter

In Salzgitter, members of the Berçem Cîlo women's council, the Meryem women's commune in Hildesheim and the Kurdish community centers in Salzgitter and Hildesheim protested together against state repression in Turkey and called for a boycott of tourism.  

Kiel

At the Asmus-Bremer Square in Kiel, activists demanded the release of Abdullah Öcalan and all political prisoners in Turkey. The demonstrators also protested against the appointment of trustees to HDP-run municipalities, the attacks on Rojava, the embargo on the Maxmur refugee camp and the destruction of guerrilla graves by Turkish security forces.

Stuttgart

At a rally in Stuttgart organized by the Kurdish Community Center and the Revolutionary Youth Movement (TCŞ), the focus was the demand for freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held on the prison island Imrali for 21 years.

Bremen

Also in Bremen, Kurds demanded the release of Abdullah Öcalan and all political prisoners and protested against the seizure of Kurdish municipalities, the attacks on Rojava and Maxmur.

Düsseldorf

A protest action against the Turkish state's attacks on the Kurdish people and especially on women's institutions and the HDP took place at the Schadow Square in Düsseldorf.

Heilbronn

A rally with the same demands took place in Heilbronn.

Frankfurt

Also at the Römerplatz in Frankfurt there were protests against the attacks of the AKP/MHP regime on Kurdistan.
