Kurds to launch indefinite sit-in in front of the CoE and CPT

KCDK-E announced that they are launching an indefinite sit-in in front of the CoE and CPT for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan on Monday and called for strong participation in the demonstration.

Kurds are launching an indefinite sit-in demonstration in front of the CPT and Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France to protest the isolation and pressure imposed upon the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The demonstration will kick off with a press statement on Monday.

With the aggravated isolation and recent news on the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s health and safety, Kurdistanis have launched demonstrations worldwide. Kurds are launching an indefinite sit-in in front of the Council of Europe (CoE) and the Committee for the Prevention of Torture on Monday.

The KCDK-E Presidential Council issued a statement and called on all circles to participate in the demonstrations, announcing that they will continue the demonstrations until they achieve results.

“NO LIFE WITHOUT THE LEADER”

KCDK-E Presidential Council’s statement pointed to Öcalan’s conditions and stressed the following:

“Since April 5, 2015, the isolation policies against President Abdullah Öcalan has continued and intensified. We have last heard of President Abdullah Öcalan on September 5, 2016. For over a year, nobody, not his family, not any political group, not his lawyers, have met with Leader Abdullah Öcalan. His lawyers haven’t been able to meet with him since 2011, and the 400 appeals they have made have been arbitrarily rejected. Our leader is kept outside of the process, they are trying to make people forget him and reduce his influence. They want to get the Kurdish people used to the isolation. It is common knowledge that the recent news leaked on social media are an integral part of these policies. These stories are part of the project by the AKP-MHP fascism and Erdoğan-Bahçeli dictatorship, we stress once more that they are utterly dangerous for us and the peoples of Turkey and that we are responsible in the first degree for President Abdullah Öcalan’s health and safety. It is an undisputable fact for us that no free life can exist without him, and we will not get used to the isolation imposed upon Leader Apo.”

“ON THAT DAY, OUR PEOPLE SHOULD STOP LIFE AND COME TO THE DEMO”

The statement said European institutions are also responsible for the pressure on Öcalan, as well as the AKP, and continued:

“We will never stay silent in the face of the immoral plan the AKP and Erdoğan want to develop against our Leader in the chaos and the chaotic ambiance they created. On this basis, all Kurds and their allies should be standing up continuously and indefinitely for the freedom, health and safety of our Leader. We have an obligation in the form of a resolve for constant demonstrations to receive news of President Abdullah Öcalan in an absolute manner.

European institutions are also responsible for the immoral blackmail of the Turkish state and the massacre policies they developed against the Kurdish people in the person of President Abdullah Öcalan. The Council of Europe and the CPT are at the top of this list of institutions.”

KCDK-E Presidential Council stated that they will launch a sit-in to remind the CPT and the CoE of their duty and to show their protest, and added the following:

“All our people and our allies should actively participate in the sit-in we will launch in front of the CPT and the CoE in Strasbourg on Monday, October 23, 2017. The sit-in will be uninterrupted and indefinite, and will continue until we achieve absolute results from the CoE and the CPT. This should be seen as a duty, an obligation and a moral stance.

The sit-in will begin with a rally with thousands participating. We are calling for a strong participation to the rally to start in front of the CoE and the CPT at 11.00 on Monday. It’s not the time to focus on work, or school, or anything else. This day should be held as the Day for the Leader. All Kurds should take part in the demonstration for the freedom of Leader Apo in Strasbourg.”
