German deputies' visit to Turkey cancelled

The planned visit of German parliamentarians to Turkey and North Kurdistan has been cancelled.

The crisis between Germany and Turkey that emerged when the Erdoğan regime didn’t allow German parliamentarians to visit German soldiers stationed in the Incirlik Air Base continues. A delegation from the German Parliament was set to visit Turkey to find a way out of the crisis.

The visit by the German delegation led by Federal Parliament Vice President Greens MP Claudia Roth, set to take place between May 25-28, has been cancelled. It is yet not disclosed why the visit has been cancelled.

German MPs were going to meet with both AKP MPs and representatives from oppositional parties in Turkey. Claudia Roth and the delegation was also going to visit Amed and meet with Ahmet Türk, former Mardin Co-mayor who was removed from his post by the Interior Ministry, as well as representatives from HDP, DTK and DBP.

Roth and SPD's Niels Annen will reportedly make a press statement on the matter tomorrow.
