Balance sheet of battle for 8 days of the Deir ez-Zor campaign

Cizire Storm Operation Room announced the liberation of 2 towns, 14 villages and hamlets, as well as the rescue of 4000 civilians within the last 8 days.

As part of the military campaign for Deir ez-Zor's liberation launched on September 9, the YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continue their advance towards the city. The Cizire Storm Operation Room has released details on the first 8 days of the battle for the city.

Accordingly, the Syrian Democratic Forces and Deir ez-Zor Military Council have advanced 63 kilometres towards the city within the last 8 days, and liberated 2 towns, 14 villages and hamlets.

The sugar and cotton factories and electricity station have been liberated and the fighters engaged in armed confrontation with ISIS gangs 15 times in 8 days, during which a large number of arms, radios and Toyota vehicles were confiscated.

On the other hand, 5 explosive-laden vehicles of the gangs were destroyed before they could reach their targets, while the gangs detonated another 3 vehicles before reaching the aimed locations. The gangs also carried out 4 suicide attacks but all these failed to achieve their goals.

According to the statement, several gang members have been killed in the clashes and bodies of many ended up in SDF possession. The fighters also rescued 4 thousand civilians from the clashes areas and transferred them to safe zones.

8 fighters were martyred during the 8 days of the operation.
