Operation on the last ISIS-occupied neighborhoods in Mosul

An operation has been launched on the last ISIS-held neighborhoods in Mosul. On the other hand, Hashd al-Shaabi took control of two villages to the south of Shengal.

The Iraqi Army and affiliated militia groups launched an operation on the last ISIS-held neighborhoods west of Mosul as part of their operation to liberate the city, ongoing since October 17, 2016.

Iraqi Army Nineveh operations commander Ebdulemîr Reshîd Yarella issued a written statement and announced that they have launched an operation to liberate the last 6 neighborhoods in Mosul city occupied by ISIS. Yarella stated that clashes intensified in Shifa and Zincîlî neighborhoods and around Cumhurî hospital.

Old Mosul, Zincîlî, Saha, Raes Kur and Bab Sinjar are the remaining ISIS-occupied neighborhoods in western Mosul. The Iraqi Army had earlier stated that Mosul would have been liberated by the beginning of the Ramadan month.

On the other hand, Hashd al-Shaabi militia that had launched an operation against ISIS in south Shengal took control of two more villages. Accordingly, the militia cleared Shengal's East Rambûsa and West Rambûsa villages of ISIS. Hashd al-Shaabi had taken control of Kocho village from ISIS the night before.
